What is an automatic watch?
An automatic watch works without a battery: it recharges itself thanks to the movements of your wrist. As long as you wear it every day, it continues to work. If you leave it unused for more than 42 hours, it simply stops and starts again as soon as you put it back on or by slightly turning the crown.
This type of mechanism, derived from traditional watchmaking know-how, is more complex and refined than a classic quartz mechanism (battery).

I thought it was all a gimmick as someone who also purchased a watch from the also advertised Poedagaar brand but when I received my Seiko Mariner I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality. Many people online are desensitised and will probably say they feel cheap but if your experience is only with entry level watches and you also can't seem to find a design that you like, GO WITH THESE GUYS!
